Nelson Lugo - Writer and Performer
Nelson is a born and raised New Yorker who has been performing his unique brand of magic all over the world for the past 25 years. He studied acting at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy and better acting at the William Esper Studios. Nelson learned magic at the ripe old age of nine by reading Harry Blackstone Jr. books. He puppeteered full body puppets for the Jim Henson Co. for two years. He became a storyteller by never winning a Moth Story Slam. He learned showmanship from Harry Anderson and reruns of Night Court. He honed his Hosting/MC skills from watching endless hours of Benny Hill on PBS. Trained as a clown doctor at the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Program. Was selected to be a ringmaster for the Big Apple Circus show “Metamorphosis”. He is a frequent guest artist on many NYC storytelling stages and his stories can be heard on the Moth, RISK, and Story Collider podcasts. In 2022 his solo show “Cheating Death” received the Critics Choice Award for best magic show at the Orlando Fringe Festival.
Lisa Sutz, lcsw - Director and dramaturg
Lisa Sutz, LCSW - Director and Dramaturg:
Lisa is a former theater kid and political staffer who now devotes her time to serving older adults as a Clinical Social Worker. She was awarded a M.S.W. with a specialization in Aging from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and a B.A. in Government from Georgetown University. She spent the early part of her career as a political consultant and staffer. In her spare time, she sings in a community choir, bakes cookies for her dog and watches lots of bad card tricks. So many bad card tricks.

About the magic:
The magic that is performed in this show was originally created and taught by some of the greatest minds in all of performance magic. A special credit must be given to those teachers whose work and contribution to this art form have made this show possible. In no particular order Nelson would like to thank his (met and unmet) mentors George Sands, Jeff Sheridan, Eugene Burger, Harold Rice, Fred Culpitt, Hen Fetsch, Peter Warlock, David Abbott, Theodore Annemann, Brent Braun, Harlan Tarbell, Harry Blackstone Jr., Arthur Felsman, and Harry Anderson. It is through their creations and innovations that Nelson has found his own voice.
